With clinics in Crescent City, Smith River, and Klamath, United Indian Health Services (UIHS) is here to care for American Indian families and communities throughout Del Norte County.
Whether someone needs a routine checkup, dental care, behavioral health support, or help connecting with other UIHS services, our goal is to make quality care available and accessible to our community.
Each of our Del Norte locations is a little different, with services designed to meet the needs of the communities they serve. Together, they provide medical, dental, vision, and behavioral healthcare, along with programs that support nutrition, recovery, healthy families, and overall wellness.
While services vary by location, all of our Del Norte clinics share the same commitment: providing high-quality, culturally appropriate care to our American Indian community.

Smith River is also home to UIHS Elder Nutrition services at Howonquet Hall, providing nutritious meals and an opportunity for elders to spend time together, build connections, and stay engaged with their community.

Elk Valley also helps connect clients with community health and wellness services and additional resources available throughout UIHS.
Hop’-ew Puel Clinic – Klamath
For clients and families in Klamath, Hop’-ew Puel Clinic provides healthcare closer to home, reducing the need to travel to Crescent City or Humboldt County for many routine healthcare needs.
The clinic provides primary medical care and dental services several times a month, as well as Behavioral Health, Substance Use Disorder Services, and Tribal Public Health services.
Having healthcare available within smaller and more rural communities is especially important on the North Coast, where distance and transportation can sometimes be barriers to receiving care. Hop’-ew Puel helps make healthcare more convenient and accessible for the Klamath community.
