Our Providers

WIC Nutrition Assistant, (WNA)
Our program has four WIC Nutrition Assistants on staff (WNA). WNAs determine eligibility of applicants for qualification of program benefits. WNAs perform certification and recertification, provide nutrition education, and refer participants to other professionals. WNAs provide a “wraparound approach” by involving other professionals such as a Registered Dietitian, International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, Dental, Medical, Public Health Nurse, and others as appropriate. All WNAs in our program are Certified Indigenous Lactation Counselors and provide breastfeeding assistance, breastfeeding tools, and education.
Registered Dietitian
Our Registered Dietitian is a credentialed healthcare professional who specializes in nutrition and develops eating plans to meet the complex health needs of our families. Our Dietitian specializes in counseling participants who are at-risk. This includes providing education on therapeutic formula for infants, failure to thrive infants and children, gestational diabetes, diet changes, and more.
International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, (IBCLC)
Our IBCLC is an important part of the healthcare team for new parents. The IBCLC is focused on helping families successfully navigate breastfeeding for their infant from prenatal to weaning.
The IBCLC has a wide scope of expertise across five main areas:
- Prenatal planning for breastfeeding
- Lactation education and advocacy
- General breastfeeding support
- Pumping
- Complex breastfeeding situations (premature infants, food allergies, maternal health issues, etc.)
Breastfeeding can be both emotionally demanding and medically complex, and the IBCLC has clinical expertise and sensitivity to provide this needed support for our families.
