Area 2 – Paula “Pimm” Tripp-Allen

Aiyukii / Aiy-ye-Kwee

My name is Paula “Pimm” Tripp-Allen (Karuk/Yurok) and I am humbly asking for your vote to serve as your community elected representative to the UIHS Board of Directors for Area 2, which includes all areas north of the Mad River to the Del Norte County line. I am a wife, mother, grandmother and auntie to our cultural community, and I also serve as a ceremonial lead for the Karuk Women’s Camp for our Brushdance and Flower Dance ceremonies. I was born and raised participating both in the cultural traditions of our Karuk and Yurok Peoples, and was also raised as an active member of our community and have worked in Tribal Health, Tribal Education and Cultural Arts Management for over 20 years. I am a 3rd generation UIHS Board Member, following in the steps of both my grandmothers and my mother. I feel blessed to have served on the Board as a young woman in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s where I had the opportunity to learn from the example of many of the elders and UIHS Board Members who had been doing this work for decades. I have enjoyed being back on the Board at UHS and would like the opportunity to continue to serve my community in this way. I believe in our mission to work together to achieve wellness through services that reflect the values of our community and will continue to work towards that if I am elected. Yootva / Wokhlew

Area 5 – Annelia Norris

Nek New Annelia Norris. I am a member of the Yurok Tribe, and have lived in the upriver area for the greater part of my life. I have a great love for our Native communities and for the land in which we exist.I believe I will be a strong advocate for the upriver community as I understand the challenges we face accessing health care in a rural area. I also understand the strengths of our community, and hope to help find solutions to our health care that reflect the specific needs of our community, that also align with the mission and values of UIHS. I have experience serving on several different boards throughout my life including the KTJUSD school board, and currently the California Indian Environmental Alliance. I have a BFA from the University of Oregon and have a wide range of work experience in the systems including Food Sovereignty, education, health and human services, and domestic violence. I hold strong values in our culture and believe our health and well being is directly related to the health and well being of the land and water. Thank you for your consideration.
