Alternate, Area 2 Tribal Government Community Outreach Manager, Yurok Tribal Court

I am a proud citizen of the Yurok Tribe of Northern California.  My Yurok family originates from the ancestral villages of Cha’Pekw, Epsau and Orek’w, and I identify as Ner-Er-Ner O’ohl, a coastal Yurok person.

As a Community Outreach Manager, I reach out to local service agencies and others to build bridges and create relationships through education and personal interactions. I also manage our Tribe’s Title VI Elder’s Nutrition Program that serves hot lunches to over 80 elders and their caregivers each week. I am a member of the United Indian Health Services Board of Directors, serving as an alternate for the O’rek’w District and I also service on many other boards and committees that serve my people and community at large.

I am involved in Yurok culture, language and ceremony. I come from a long line of traditional Yurok doctors, healers and storytellers. I manage a program called Skuey Eech Son E-Naw (We Are Becoming Well) that brings traditional Yurok storytelling and art through shadow puppetry to several elementary schools each year.

I have two sons and two grandchildren. In my spare time I enjoy walking on the beach, birdwatching, cooking and reading.
