The UIHS Dental Department is designed to provide comprehensive dental services to all clients through patient education, preventive dentistry, oral diagnosis, and treatment of oral health conditions. Comprehensive dental services consist of all procedures necessary to restore and maintain optimal oral health. These basic services include: Preventative Dentistry -Prophylaxis & Scaling -Periodontal Prevention -Pit & Fissure Sealants -Fluoride Treatments -Oral Hygiene Instruction Operative Dentistry -Fillings, Composite & Alloy -Porcelain & Gold Crowns -Bridge Work -Prosthetics - Dentures, Partial Dentures -Simple extractions Oral Diagnosis -Oral Examinations for Dental Caries & Oral Cancer -Treatment Planning -Examination of Periodontal and Occlusal Conditions in the Oral Cavity Specialties -Oral Surgery -Orthodontics -Pedodontics -Endodontics Additionally, oral health care referrals for specialty consultations or services not provided at the UIHS Dental Department are made when needed. Clinic Hours: Dental clinic hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. in both Humboldt and Del Norte Clinical Facilities. The Humboldt Dental Clinical Facility in Arcata is closed for lunch from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. The Del Norte Dental Clinical Section in Smith River is closed for lunch from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Dental Clinical Facilities are closed periodically for dental meetings and maintenance.
