Programs for EveryoneThe UIHS Diabetes Awareness Program funds the Potawot Community Food Garden which grows many varieties of organic fruits and vegetables. The garden is a place for learning about small scale food production. Produce stands are held twice a week at Potawot Health Village, Tuesday and Friday 12:00-2:00 for UIHS families to come and purchase locally grown, healthy produce.
There are work-out rooms available at Potawot clinic, Weitchpec Tribal office, and Klamath clinic. Any UIHS client over 14 can use these facilities after receiving an orientation from a Diabetes Team or Health Promotions staff member.
Children’s Activity Fee Support program is in place for any UIHS American Indian clients between the ages of 4-18. Funds, as available, can be used to assist in paying for a weight loss or physical activity program. Applications are available from Community Services.
